Happy (?) New Year, 2008

Posted 1 January, 2008 in Assmonkeys |

Okay, now that we’ve got the sentimental malarkey out of the way, I can cop to the fact that I’m sitting in a dingy Internet cafe in downtown Toronto, typing away on a keyboard that is sticky from all manner of substances (coffee, food, other unidentifiable leavings that I don’t even want to think about but that the folks on CSI would presumably have a field day with) and that can’t seem to bring itself to create an accent egu over words like “cafe.”

This is because I woke up this morning to find that my DSL connection is cacked and the people at Bell Sympatico who can look into the problem aren’t working today.

I’m told it might take up to five business days to get this thing sorted out, so despite my best intentions posts may be a bit sporadic over the next few days. I’ll try to make it back to the Internet cafe (damn! damn! damn!) to post some content in the interim, but please bear with me if I don’t.

In the meantime, I’ll be frantically perfecting my scheme to acquire two rotting beaver carcasses that I’ll label “Frank” and “Gordon” and ship to the Bell head offices with all my love. Stay tuned.

  • Be prepared for a long blackout. Bell is horrible. They haven’t gotten a cent of my money in almost three years because of their spotty DSL service, money-making schemes (long story, but even when it’s clear the problem is outside, they still want to send someone inside your house, at the cost of almost $100 of course), and terrible customer service. Seriously, I know tech support has a script and all, but I really didn’t appreciate being treated like a child. “Is your computer on?” indeed. Fuckwits. Hate them. HATE.

  • Just when I was starting to miss home… Yep, Bell has ruined more than one holiday season for more than one Torontonian, whether current or expat. (Incidentally, Wordpress is giving Bell a good run for its money, annoyance-wise; has deleted my comment twice now. And yet, and yet … I belieeeeeve in the Internet.)
